Certainly, the Second Vatican Council wished to promote greater active participation [and] fine initiatives were taken along these lines. However we cannot close our eyes to the disaster, the devastation and the schism that the modern promoters of a living liturgy caused by remodeling the Church’s liturgy according to their ideas. They forgot that the liturgical act is not just a PRAYER, but also and above all a MYSTERY in which something is accomplished for us that we cannot fully understand but that we must accept and receive in faith, love, obedience and adoring silence.

Sacra Liturgia USA 2015 — New York City
published 31 May 2015 by Fr. David Friel

omorrow begins Sacra Liturgia USA 2015, an international conference on liturgical formation in light of the New Evangelization. I will be present at the event and will try to offer a few real-time reports on the experience here on Views from the Choir Loft.

Last month, I posted an brief mention of some of the speakers we will hear this week. I also encourage you to check out the full schedule, posted HERE.

On the conference website, you will find a detailed introduction to each of the speakers. The schedule further includes the titles of the talks to be given.

With gratitude to the organizers of this conference, I pray that its proceedings will be a blessing to the Church in America and beyond.
