Amazing Opportunity for Los Angeles Catholics

Jeff Ostrowski · April 23, 2015

890 FSSP Fraternity of Saint Peter Los Angeles O YOU LIVE near Los Angeles? Would you enjoy attending a Latin Mass? Would you like to join a parish where the Extraordinary Form is offered exclusively?  I have good news!

Mass in the Extraordinary Form
Saint Victor Church • 7:00pm Each Sunday
8634 Holloway Drive
West Hollywood, CA 90069

We’re a brand new community, but already have established numerous functions, parish organizations, altar server meetings, and so forth. We have a wonderful choir—100% volunteer—which sings the High Mass each week. Listen to this sample recording.

Catholics in Los Angeles can’t attend the Traditional Mass if they don’t realize it’s available each week! Please help spread the word. And parents with small children will love our cry room—right next to the Sanctuary, behind a glass window—which provides a remarkable view.

879 Fr. John Berg FSSP FR. JOHN BERG, Superior General of the Fraternity, will be visiting our parish—all the way from Switzerland! He will celebrate Mass with us on Pentecost Sunday, 24 May 2015, and attend a dinner immediately after Mass. This will be an unprecedented opportunity for you to speak with him, asking about the Traditional Mass, the FSSP seminaries, and so forth. An especially good opportunity, perhaps, for those considering a vocation to the priesthood.

Our Chaplain, Fr. James Fryar, sends you this brief video greeting.

Special to thanks to Msgr. Murphy who has allowed us to worship at
St. Victor Church until the Fraternity can obtain a permanent location.

From a reader: “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the time and resources poured into CCWatershed. It’s transformed how I approach music in the parish, and has especially helped me deepen appreciation for the ability of volunteer musicians.”

From a reader: “I wasn’t looking for it. But, I stumbled across your hand-dandy arrangement of Pachelbel’s Canon. Jeff, this is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I had to play a wedding on Saturday. The bride requested the Canon. There were 11 bridesmaids! The organ loft is a football field away from the communion rail. It’s so difficult to play and keep checking the mirror. Your arrangement is absolutely genius. One can skip and choose which variations to use. The chord names are handy so that when my eyes are off the music, I always know where I am at. A thousand times thank you for sharing this arrangement!”

Random Quote

“If I could only make the faithful sing the Kyrie, the Gloria, the Credo, the Sanctus, and the Agnus Dei…that would be to me the finest triumph sacred music could have, for it is in really taking part in the liturgy that the faithful will preserve their devotion. I would take the Tantum Ergo, the Te Deum, and the Litanies sung by the people over any piece of polyphony.”

— ‘Giuseppe Cardinal Sarto, Letter to Msgr. Callegari (1897)’
