At the Council of Trent, the subject was raised whether it was correct to refer to the unconsecrated elements of bread and wine as “immaculata hostia” (spotless victim) and “calix salutaris” (chalice of salvation) in the offertory prayers. Likewise the legitimacy of the making the sign of the cross over the elements after the Eucharistic consecration was discussed.

ITH SPECIAL THANKS to Charles Coulombe & Jo Seno, below are some pictures from the FSSP Holy Triduum in Los Angeles. Before long, a whole bunch more will be released, but I wanted to give readers this preview!

Here’s one from the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, which I recently wrote about. Notice how the priest, dressed in cope, is engulfed in darkness at the beginning of the Easter Vigil—except for candles burning:
