“I prefer to say nothing, or very little, about the new calendar, the handiwork of a trio of maniacs who suppressed—with no good reason—Septuagesima and the Octave of Pentecost and who scattered three quarters of the Saints higgledy-piddledy, all based on notions of their own devising!”
— Fr. Bouyer, Consilium member appointed by Pope Paul VI

Catholic Line Art, Black and White • Installment #63
published 25 December 2014 by Cynthia Ostrowski

T HAS BEEN my pleasure to post these lovely images, and I will continue doing so. But let no one think these downloads can replace holding the actual Jogues Missal in your hands. The entire book is a work of art, and its typesetting will astound you.

Today’s image (#63 BELOW) was not used in the Jogues Illuminated Missal because we found other images of a much higher quality. However, I still think it’s beautiful, and those familiar with the Christmas Propers—such as the Introit—will realize why it says “Filius meus es tu.”
