"Oh, what sighs I uttered, what tears I shed, to mingle with the waters of the torrent, while I chanted to Thee, O my God, the psalms of Holy Church in the Office of the Dead!"

“His eyes keep watch over the nations: let rebels not rise against Him.” (Psalm 66: 4?)

Dr. Ronda’s examples: I prayed a rosary and mercy chaplet for an end to abortion and for the economy. I thought that if God got us past slavery and the Civil War and WWI and WWII He could save us from the horrors of the present day. I thought about the North Vietnamese, previously our enemies, and we commiting atrocities there in spite of our good motives, and how “North” Vietnam is sending seminarians and nuns to study at Holy Apostles where I teach. That sure is God bringing good out of evil. I delighted in how lots of good in international relations comes indirectly such as getting to know cultures of others through their foods in our restaurants starting with Chinese, Mexican, and Japanese restaurants. I put a slip of paper with USA into the God-box (described earlier).

Your examples:

Prayer: Father God, You know all the good in this country from its founding; all those who really loved You and were moral and sacrificed their lives for freedom and raised families and welcomed the “tired and the poor” from other countries and also those now praying for an end to all the evils that bedevil us. Please inspire our present and future leaders to overturn bad laws and make good laws. Review in us a love of all the good in our past history. May each of us be out of denial of any patterns that hurt our country.
