"Since such is the nature of man that he cannot easily without external means be raised to meditation on divine things, on that account holy Mother Church has instituted certain rites, namely that certain things be pronounced in a subdued tone (canon and words of consecration) and others in a louder tone; she has likewise made use of ceremonies such as mystical blessings, lights, incense, vestments, and many other things of this kind in accordance with apostolic teaching and tradition, whereby both the majesty of so great a sacrifice might be commended, and the minds of the faithful excited by these visible signs of religion and piety to the contemplation of the most sublime matters which are hidden in this sacrifice."

Corpus Christi Watershed is five years old today!!!

Corpus Christi Watershed is five years old today.

Sometime in 2009, I learned that the State of Texas officially chose to recognize Corpus Christi Watershed as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation on October 19th, 2006: the Feast of Sts. Isaac Jogues, John de Brébeuf, & companions, martyrs.

This date was not chosen by us. I am not kidding.

This is . . . a truly amazing thing, when one considers all the works and websites and scores we had already dedicated to Sts. Isaac Jogues, John de Brébeuf, René Goupil, Jean de Lalande, Charles Garnier, Antoine Daniel, Gabriel Lalemant, and Noël Chabanel. (Read more)

The Gospel Acclamation for today is: “Go and teach all nations, says the Lord; I am with you always, until the end of the world.” With God’s help, we hope to continue doing just that!
